Tata Power Renewable Energy Commissions 190.5 MW FDRE Project in Rajasthan

Tata Power Renewable Energy Limited (TPREL), a subsidiary of Tata Power, has commissioned a 190.5 MW Solar Firm and Dispatchable Renewable Energy (FDRE) project at Kalasar in Bikaner, Rajasthan.

The project has been developed under SJVN’s FDRE Tranche-1 and forms part of a larger 460 MW contracted FDRE capacity. It combines large-scale solar generation with a 115 MWh battery energy storage system (BESS) to support reliable and dispatchable renewable power.

Power generated from the project will be supplied to Haryana Power Purchase Centre (HPPC), Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company (MSEDCL), and Noida Power Company (NPCL).

The project also incorporates a harmonic filter bank and static VAR generator systems to support grid stability. TPREL completed the project amid compressed timelines and supply-chain challenges affecting the availability of transmission-line materials, module mounting structures and other equipment. The project’s switchyard was completed in three months, while the harmonic filter bank was completed within one month.

Following the commissioning, TPREL’s total renewable utility-scale capacity has reached 12.4 GW, of which approximately 6.9 GW is operational, comprising 5.6 GW of solar and 1.3 GW of wind capacity. Around 5.5 GW remains under various stages of implementation and is expected to be commissioned in phases over the next 24 months.
