Sterling and Wilson Renewable Energy Secures Orders Worth Over ₹985 Crore

Sterling and Wilson Renewable Energy Ltd (SWREL) has secured two new orders worth more than ₹985 crore, including a 534.3 MWp project in Rajasthan and two Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) projects with a combined capacity of 616 MWh in South Africa.

The domestic order has been awarded by a leading Independent Power Producer (IPP) in India. The project, secured from a new customer, involves a Balance of System (BOS) package.

The Rajasthan project is estimated to reduce carbon dioxide emissions by approximately 0.80 million tonnes upon commissioning, according to the company.

In the international market, SWREL has secured an order from a leading Middle East-based renewable energy projects developer for two BESS projects in South Africa. Each project has an energy storage capacity of 308 MWh, taking the combined capacity to 616 MWh.

The South African contract is a turnkey Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) wrap project and has been awarded by a repeat customer. SWREL said the project is its second-largest utility-scale BESS project to date.

Commenting on the order wins, Chandra Kishore Thakur, Global CEO, Sterling and Wilson Renewable Energy, said the two orders reinforce the momentum in the company’s business and reflect customer confidence in its project execution capabilities.

The latest contracts add to SWREL’s work across utility-scale solar and energy storage, covering both the domestic and international renewable energy markets.

The company is an end-to-end renewable energy EPC solutions provider with operations spanning utility-scale solar, floating solar, hybrid and energy storage and wind projects. Its portfolio stands at more than 28.7 GWp, including commissioned projects and projects under construction, while its operations and maintenance portfolio covers 18.3 GWp of solar projects.

The two new orders expand the company’s project pipeline across solar generation and battery storage, with the Rajasthan contract adding utility-scale solar EPC work and the South African assignment strengthening its presence in large-scale energy storage.
